I've had this weird feeling of being older and somewhat removed from a lot of the popular discourse of the day - not really dismissive of people "fighting the good fight" as much as just recognizing the moment-to-moment outrage as relatively smaller beats in the overall course of history, and trying to focus my energy on maximum impact rather than maximum... I don't know, internet points, or whatever.
tbh I've changed that way in most of my life; I don't care particularly about hot new movies or games or whatever because honestly who gives a shit? I just try to stay abreast of things and filter out real inflection points. I think that's harder to do when you're younger and less aware of your place in history. Younger people also often have more time to spend online meticulously keeping up with the drama of the day. And I'm glad so many stay informed.
I guess it just boils down to like... there's so much energy out there, but I feel like it needs to be harnessed productively rather than just screaming into the void. Look for the inflection points and then strike. Otherwise just take care of you & yours and prepare yourself mentally.
(I guess it makes me feel old because hearing this would have pissed me off 10 years ago)
